Maker's mark of Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co Ltd, London 1927
Designed as the emblem of the County of Leicestershire of a running fox on a naturalistic ground, raised on an ebonised plinth with a silver plaque engraved 'Presented to Major G.H.S. Fowke, by Leicestershire Cricketers, Friends and Supporters whose names are recorded elsewhere to mark the grateful recognition the close of his successful term of office as Captain of the Leicestershire County Cricket XI, 1922-1927 April 30th 1928'

The trophy was presented to Major Gustavus Henry Spencer Fowke on his retirement as Captain of Leicestershire Cricket Club in 1927.
Fowke was the younger brother of Sir Frederick Ferrers Conant Fowke, 3rd Baronet and heir to the Lowesby estate in Leicestershire. Gus, as he was known, served in the South African War, 1900-1902 and during World War I, when he became a Major in the Gordon Highlanders.
