Oliver Smith was the artistic director of American Ballet Theatre, one of the world's most celebrated dance companies from 1945 until 1980. During this time, Mr. Smith received seven Tony Awards for his work on Broadway. He is most widely known for his work on Broadway pieces such as West Side Story, Hello, Dolly!, My Fair Lady; the sets for the films Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma and Band Wagon and the dance pieces Fancy Free and Rodeo.
