"FREEDOM OR TYRANNY" was the subject of the "seminar" which Reagan decided to forego due to his fear of air travel. Actually a series of talks that stretched from 16 April to 7 May of the Spring of 1962, the program was organized by Bertha and the Great Milwaukee Forum; speakers were culled from the extreme conservative spectrum and the highlighted speaker was Major General Edwin Anderson Walker. Regan eventually overcame his fear of flying due to his increasing political prominence.
"I feel greatly honored at your invitation to join in the 'Seminar' & reget very much that I can't accept. Unfortunately a number of speaking engagements here on the West Coast...make it impossible....Perhaps I should explain, I don't fly so a trip to your area would entail several days round trip by train...".
