A great wine, as its owner, Alexander de Lur-Saluces, is not too modest to admit. I have noted slight differences in colour, ranging from a palish pure yellow gold to a rich burnished old gold; sometimes it appears to be very sweet, at other times medium-sweet with a dryish finish. Doubtless the latter depends on the context, the place, the company, above all the food it happens to accompany. But it is an outstanding Yquem
