The Rest on the Flight into Egypt

Cesare Gennari, Guercino's nephew, joined his uncle's workshop in 1643 becoming head of the studio and remaining there until 1672. The present work recalls Guercino's late style and Gennari's painting around 1670. See, for example, The Nativity, in the Musée Municipal in Villeneuve-les-Avignon.
