Another version, close save for minor details, 13 x 15in., was in the Leverhulme sale, Anderson's, New York, 2-4 March 1926, lot 353, repr.), and a variant with a different landscape setting, 7 7/8 x 10½in. dated 1798, is in the Albertina, Vienna (see M. Webster, Francis Wheatley, 1970, p. 80, (repr. fig. 107). A version of the composition was engraved in stipple by I Geremia and published on 1 May 1804 (see Webster, op. cit., p. 188 no. E 181)
