One of Mêne's most popular dog groups, the present model also exists as two individual sculptures, the crouching greyhound entitled Gisella, the taller entitled Jiji. The group was first exhibited in plaster at the Salon of 1848 and appeared as No. 93 in Mêne's catalogue.
