Notice Regarding the Sal… 显示更多 PROPERTY FROM THE ESTATE OF LUCILLE STEWART BEESON Lucille Beeson, a well-known philanthropist, collector, and lawyer, was a woman ahead of her time. An Atlanta native, in 1931 Mrs. Beeson was one of the first women to receive a law degree and be admitted to the Georgia Bar. For a time, she specialized in criminal law, learning firsthand of the plight of prisoners and the condition of jails in that era. These experiences reinforced her empathy for others and desire to help the less fortunate. In 1936, she married Dwight Moody Beeson, an executive with Liberty National Insurance, and moved to Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. Beeson not only shared her philanthropic spirit, but also her love for collecting beautiful things. In 1946, the Beesons began assembling what would become an internationally known collection of rare and important Wedgwood china. They later donated the entire collection to the Birmingham Museum of Art, and left the bulk of their estate in trust for the perpetual benefit of thirteen local charities. Mrs. Beeson's unprecedented generosity and eye for beauty enhanced the lives of all those around her.

Comprising but not limited to a brooch, designed as an openwork gold swirl, accented by cabochon turquoise florets, mounted in 18k gold, (one turquoise deficient); a brooch, designed as three gold flowers, each centering upon a circular-cut diamond and either circular-cut ruby, emerald or sapphire pistils, mounted in 18k gold; a ring, centering upon a cabochon emerald, flanked by single-cut diamond shoulders, mounted in gold; and a freshwater pearl necklace, joined to a gold clasp, 34 1/2 ins.
