This finely gilded brushpot is very similar to one illustrated by R. Krahl, Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, vol. II, London, 1994, pl. 955, where the author, p. 268, notes that "highly stylized flower designs and formal borders painted in gold were used on monochrome wares from the Qianlong period on, but they are rare on a white ground".
