1917 (Aug.) Livingstone Provisional
Two panes, or 120 stamps in all, with inverted surcharge were discovered, having been purchased at the Livingstone Post office. These panes differed in colour. One pane was rose-scarlet and this was photographed mint and intact in 1919. The other pane was rose-carmine and this was broken up in Livingstone; any used examples emanate from this latter pane. A total of six spaced "nn" and eighteen spaced "ny" can exist with inverted surcharge.
unused Half Penny on 1d. rose-scarlet, variety surcharge inverted, horizontal strip of three [21-23], with surcharge inverted positions 38-40, setting positions 18, 19 and 20, showing 18 and 19 both with "NY" spaced, very fine mint; rare. S.G. 280a., #4500+. Photo in colour
