The composition is comparable with the altarpiece in the Duomo, Oderzo (Treviso), S. Mason Rinaldi, Palma il Giovane, l'opera completa, Milan, 1984, no. 182, fig. 403. The drawing is a fine example of Palma's monochromatic oil sketches, inspired by the much more numerous studies in the technique by Domenico Tintoretto
