manuscript on buff paper, 309ff. as numbered plus four flyleaves, each with 15ll. of strong black naskh, punctuation in red, gold roundels between verses, gold margin between black rules, red outer margin, gold and polychrome star and floral marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, occasional marginal notes in black, sura headings in white on gold panels, (very occasional smudging), opening double folio illuminated in gold and polychrome, the text in circular panels within gold clouds, final double folio with illuminated text in drop-shaped panels with floral spandrels, the left-hand containing the colophon signed by Sayyid 'Uthman al-Nathif, a pupil of Sayyid Ibrahim al-Shukri and dated 1285, red morocco binding with gold painted central medalion and lattice border (worn)
