Owari artists have made this type of design since the Muromachi period. This compact, perfect design and the forging of the iron indicate that it is slightly later than similar examples from the Muromachi period.

Akiyama Kyusaku (1844-1936) said "Among all the sukashi pieces, there is nothing better than Owari to suit the samurai".
