The present picture would seem to be the pendant to Benson's portrait of a man in the Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts de Belgique, Brussels, which has an identical green background (M. J. Friedländer, Early Netherlandish Painting, XI, ed. H. Pauwels, Leyden, 1974, p.99, no.282 and pl.178)
