Pierre Benoit Marcion, 1769-1840

The Château de Navarre, Normandy was owned by Empress Joséphine and on her death her son Prince Eugène inherited le mobilier des appartements du Château de Navarre and one half of the plauts et provisions. Her daughter Princesse Hortense inherited the other half of des provisions of Navarre. The grandfather of Baroness Fernande de Condé was Baron de Rougemont who was in charge of Napoleon's household during his exile on St. Helena.

A very similar set of seat furniture by Pierre Marcion at Fontainebleau is illustrated in L. De Groër, Les Arts Decoratifs de 1790-1850, Paris 1985, p.147, fig.273 and in C. Terrasse, Musée de Fontainebleau - Musée de Grandes Architectures.
