Victor-Athanase Pierret, 1806-1893 established himself in Paris at the age of 24 in rue des Bons-Enfants. His miniature skeleton clocks caused a stir when they were first exhibited in the 1851 Paris Exhibition; a very small number were bereft of engraving and most were sold with an alarm mechamism, sometimes with added calendar. This particular type was at that time sold for 18s 6d.
