A French silver-gilt lady travelling dressing table service
Maker's mark of Jules Coquelin, Paris, circa 1845
Comprising three scent bottles, two cylindrical jars, two oval boxes,
and three oblong boxes, each with cut-glass body and engine-turned
silver-gilt cover engraved with the initial L with Royal crown above,
within flower and scroll rococo cartouche, with matching square inkpot and nineteen steel and tortoiseshell-mounted sewing and manicure implements, a penknife lacking, and an associated purse and two aide-memoires, fully marked, all in brass, mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell inlaid ebony veneered case, the interior of the cover with stationery wallet, the exterior with shaped oval cartouche engraved with the initial L and Royal crown above, with two hinged brass carrying handles, the rim engraved 'Sormani Rue du Cimetière St' Nicholas 7'
