A GILT-METAL AND WHITE-ONYX-MOUNTED SÈVRES-PATTERN CYLINDRICAL PEDESTAL, the ivory ground painted by G. Poitevin in a pastel palette with a maiden wearing swirling drapery flanked by cherubs, the reverse with cherubs in flight, one holding a torch and the other with a garland, all in a misty watery landscape, the lower body moulded with two bands dividing gilding, mounted with an onyx shelf and base, the lower part with a gilt-metal mount cast with leaves, artist's signature (chips to onyx, wear to gilding, one outer segment of onyx base detchaed), circa 1890
