This popular group representing the Arab horses Tachiani and Nedjibé was Mêne's most celebrated work and was cast from the 1850's. The present example is of unusually high quality, the details being finely chased and chiselled, it is therefore reasonable to suppose that this cast was closely supervised by the sculptor himself at an early date.
