Claxton-Stevens and Stewart Whittington 18th Century English Furniture, The Norman Adams Collection, Woodbridge, 1983, p. 160. Another, even simpler and inlaid with a pale-coloured wood, is illustrated in F. Lewis Hinckley, The More Significant Georgian Furniture, New York, 1990, plate 83, ill. 179. Both demonstrate how the combination of brass-banding and the quite deeply panelled frieze give additional grandeur to the present lot
