'Achievement' was a brown filly foaled in 1864 by 'Stockwell' out of 'Pardigan', a full sister to the triple crown winner 'Lord Lyon'. She owas owned by Colonel (later General) Pearson. As a two-year old she won the Woodcote, New, July, Chesterfield, Lavant, Champagne, Hopeful and Criterion Stakes. The following year she won the 1,000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes, Great Yorkshire Stakes, the St. Leger and Doncaster Cup. However, she did not train on and lost her three races when a four year old and died before producing a foal.
