François Lieutaud (1700-1748)
François Lieutaud, father of the ébéniste Charles Lieutaud and grandfather of the celebrated clockcase-maker Balthazar Lieutaud (maître in 1749) is most celebrated for his bureaux plats and commodes 'à la Régence'. With its brass fillets and more upright, early Louis XV form, it would seem likely that this commode was actually executed by Charles Lieutaud, in the workshops they shared at the Abbaye de Saint-Jean de Latron, employing his father's brand
