This mirror is attributed to the 18th Century London clock and case-maker James Cox (d.1788) who made many highly elaborate jewelled automaton and musical clocks for the Chinese market. A clock case of his with a later movement is included in the collection of Important Furniture, the Property of Mr. Edward Sarofim, to be offered in these Rooms, 16 Novmber 1995, lot 136
