A KUNIKANE KATANA WITH FINE ELAGANT TACHI MOUNTS
The blade signed Kunikane, 17th Century, mounts 19th Century
The blade iorimune, honzukuri, medium point (chu-gissaki) with slight curve (sori) forged with very tight masame, tempered edge long medium midare with strong sunagashi on the monouchi, slight kaen boshi, tang suriage and three holes, signed Oshu Sendai ju Fujiwara Kunikane, 69.4cm., in shirasaya; the tachi mounts, roironuri scabbard decorated with eight Buddhist swastikas (migi-manji) within a circle of gold, the tsuba of plain black lacquered leather with shakudo o-seppa, all tachi-kanagu en suite of plain black shakudo thinly banded with gold, the hilt black silk wrapped with black lacquered good quality same bearing menuki in the form of the same manji-mon each triple form
