AN UNUSUAL FLINTLOCK BOX-LOCK PISTOL with two-stage cannon barrel in one with the action, the former fitted with spring bayonet beneath, the latter engraved with rococo ornament and signed on the left side (top-jaw and screw replaced), engraved thumbpiece safety-catch, figured walnut butt (minor repair), engraved iron trigger-guard and spurred pommel, vacant silver escutcheon, and original horn-tipped whalebone ramrod (the iron parts rubbed and lightly pitted overall), by John Waters of Birmingham, private Birmingham proof marks, late 18th Century 13¼in.
