This set was part of the showroom interior of NV Nederlandse Installatie Magazijnen in Amsterdam which was owned by the father of the present owner. This company supplied furniture and fixtures for shop interiors. The father of the present owner had close connections with various furniture designers, like for example Hildo Krop, but also with Rietveld.
Originally the chairs had black stained seat- and back-rest and chromium-plated metal tubing. In the fifties the seat- and back-rest were painted white and the tubing red. The table has its original colour, although repainted, but the tubing was been painted green at the same time.
