A CARVED AND BRANDED OAK WRITING-DESK, designed by K.P.C. de Bazel, the rectangular panelled flap carved in the Egyptian style with two figures in a swan-shape rowing vessel surrounded by trees, above a single drawer carved in high relief with hawk-heads, the structure flanked by curved rectangular section stiles extending to the front legs and terminating in stylized hawk-heads, the panelled sides carved and branded with further Egyptian-style motifs, panelled back, the square section rear legs flanking three plain supports, on U-shape rectangular section stretcher, the joins incorporated in the decoration 117.5 cm high x 60 cm wide x 39.5 cm deep
