The castle 'De Haar' dates from 1162, and was heavily damaged during the French invasion in 1672. In 1891-1906 it was restored and partly reconstructed by the architect P.J.H. Cuypers for the Van Zuylen van Nijevelt family, who still reside at the castle. Two other drawings of the castle by Beijers dated 1744 are in the Koninklijk Huisarchief, The Hague (Romers, op.cit., nos. 418-9). A view of De Haar by Dirck van den Burg dated 1749 is included in this sale as lot 272
