Carlo Alberto of Savoy (1798-1849), King of Sardinia from 1831 to 1849, with dark hair and sidewhiskers, wearing a blue uniform with gold-embroidered collar and gold epaulettes, his right hand holding a plumed hat, his left hand clasping his sword, decorated with orders including the cross and breast-star of the Royal Sardinian Order of the Most Sacred Annunciation, the badge of the Royal Sardinian Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, the badge and breast-star of the Grand Ducal Tuscan Order of Saint-Joseph, and the breast-star and sash of the Royal Sicilian Order of Saint-Ferdinand; landscape with military exercise scene in the background; rectangular -- 240 x 147 mm, contained in a wooden case.
