the famous love poems of mystical significance, Persian manuscript on buff paper, 278ff. plus seven flyleaves, each with 17ll. of flowing black nasta'liq in four columns, ruled intercolumnar divisions, blue, red, green and gold margins between black rules, blue outer rule, lines in red, blue and gold devices above each panel of text, (negligible smudging and staining, pages trimmed), f.1r. with gold and polychrome illuminated shamsa (worn), f.1v. with similarly illuminated heading (worn, folio remargined), four similar headings throughout the text, with TWENTY CONTEMPORARY MINATURES illustrating the text (light smudging and rubbing), colophon at end of the first section dated Dhu'l-Qa'da 1007 and signed by Mu'iz al-Din Husain Langari, the ends of sections two, three and four also dated Dhu'l-Qa'da, and Dhu'l-Hijja and Safar the following year respectively, later gold and polychrome lacquer binding with central oval of floral sprays (some chips and repainting), similar doublures
