Harold Foot was an antique dealer who occupied 36 High Street, Oxford, from 1938 to 1940. In 1945 the premises were taken over by the carpet-dealer C. John. Mr Foot sometimes labelled items that he sold, including a card-table from the collection of Marjorie Wiggin Prescott, sold Christie's New York, 31 January 1981, lot 389, and another sold by the late Mrs M.B. Casey, in these Rooms, 14 November 1991, lot 136. This tallboy was in Mr Foot's private collection and was inherited from his wife by the vendor
