LONDON, 1770, MAKER'S MARK OF THOMAS HEMING
Of vase-form on square pedestal with a Greek key band, the foot chased with a band of laurel leaves rising to a knopped stem with ovolo decoration, with reeded leaf-clad handles, the fluted body with a mid-band of guilloche and foliage below drapery swags and an applied oval panel on either side, one with a crest and monogram, the other with a coat-of-arms within a foliate cartouche, the domed and stepped cover chased with foliage and laurel leaves surmounted by a baluster finial, marked under base and on cover--14 1/2in.(36.8cm.) high
