A VICTORIAN SILVER CARRIAGE CANDLESTICK
LONDON, 1890, MAKER'S MARK OF GEORGE, GEORGE WILLIAM, & JOHN BETJEMANN
Of upright rectangular form on retracting pedestal with swivelling tripod foot, inset with stricker opening to reveal a match safe, the front with hinged reflector shade/flap, lifting to reveal an adjustable glazed reflector compartment containing a circular candle, the reverse with hinged damper and applied with pendant ring and upholstery hooks, the top with hinged cover elaborately chased with foliage, scrolls and rocaille on a matted ground, fully marked--height extended 9in.(23cm.)
