etching, drypoint and engraving, 1652, on heavy fibrous oatmeal paper, first state (of three), an exceptionally fine, early impression, with considerable and extensive burr, printed with a very light and delicate tone, with narrow to thread margins, a tiny uninked hairline just to the right of Faust, another above him towards the top, the tip of the top right corner made up, a few very pale foxmarks, a few thin spots at the reverse of the left sheet edge, otherwise in very good condition P. 8 1/4 x 6 5/16in. (208 x 160mm.)
