The rectangular mottled grey marble top above gadrooning and a fluted frieze centered by a crest, on standing lion supports perched upon scrolls and joined by a platform stretcher, with ball feet stamped MACKENZIE & MITCHELL, EDINBURGH (restorations to top)- 37in.(94cm.) high, 65in.(165cm.) wide, 23½in.(60cm.) deep

While there is no information available about this firm, a mahogany footstool dating to circa 1840 is impressed with the maker's oval stamp (F. Bamford, 'Dictionary of Edinburgh Furniture Makers 1660-1840', F.H.S.J., vol. XIX, 1983, p. 83).
