Tretyakov, a Russian art critic and writer, was close to Heartfield. He acted as the artist's guide and translator between April 1931 and January 1932 while Heartfield worked, exhibited and taught in the Soviet Union. Included is a reproduction of Rodchenko's portrait of Heartfield.
