Separated in the Double sale in 1881, the paintings were reunited by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild after 1885.

There is a watercolor and gouache drawing after the Mill painting by Pierre-Adrien Paris, signed and dated 1784 (see Ananoff, loc. cit.)
