Depicted are Achilles and Ajax playing a board game, the warrior to the right perhaps Ajax, the elder of the two, due to the longer beard, both fully armed with a crested Corinthian helmet and a corselet, each carrying two spears and a shield over the left shoulder, Ajax's shield with a leg as the device, a palm tree in back of the gaming table and behind each warrior, the shoulder with a band of connected rings below palmettes below short vertical lines, rays on the neck, repaired and restored, 13 9/16in. (34.4cm.) high
