A PAIR OF HELLENISTIC GOLD EARRINGS

The upper portion composed of a round cabochon garnet set in a circular box setting, ornamented at inner and outer edge with a row of granulation and clusters of granulation connected by wire above, surmounted by the so-called Crown of Isis with the sun disc set with green glass and two upright plumes (inlays missing), a long hooked wire in back, the lower portion composed of a sheet gold pendant figure of Eros, one holding a tapering curved object, perhaps a rhyton, in each hand, the other holding a bar, perhaps a flute, 2 5/8in.
