Open at sides, decorated with panels of plaited quill work over both shoulders and down arms, each panel with elongated blue diamond and triangle patterns on white ground, bordered with tiny green glass beads and tufts of quill-bound hair, central rectangles on front and back of red cloth adorned with horizontal bands of small white and black beads, 39¼in. (99.7cm.) greatest length without attachments

O'Leary's ledger indicates that he believed that this shirt to have been originally collected in 1849. In this entry he also notes: "I consider this my most valuable item. Hard to evaluate. It might be the oldest one outside of a museum...."
