UTAGAWA KUNIYOSHI: kakuban (21.7 x 18.9 cm.); a young woman is the costume of Ryujin, the King of the Sea, presenting a sacred pearl on a cushioned lacquer stand, from the No play Chikubushima. Her robe is embellished with the two crests of the poets whose poems accompany the image, the nestling crane of Aseien Utanari and the chrysanthemum blossom of Yagiken Kikuei. Signed Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi ga and sealed Ichiyusai -- good impression and color, very slightly toned and soiled, otherwise good condition
