In the French taste, each on spreading circular foot, cast and chased with an egg-and-dart band below a band of flowerheads on a matted ground with rocaille at intervals and a band of reeding, rising to a knopped baluster stem issuing from an acanthus calyx below similar reeding applied with flowerheads, with sweeping scroll panels enclosing rocaille and scalework, the lower baluster socket with similar panels of flowerheads below an egg-and-dart band rim, with removable circular nozzle with similar rim, the bases and nozzles engraved with a crest, marked under bases and on sockets--11in.
