AN OTSUKI SCHOOL KOZUKA
EDO PERIOD (CIRCA 1800), SIGNED MOTOHIRO WITH KAO
The polished shibuichi plate is carved and inlaid with a shakudo bridge that has gold supports and a copper and silver raft for transporting charcoal, on which there is a gold boatman. The water is carved with ripple lines. The edge of the frame is gold, the remainder in shakudo, as is the back plate, half of which is sheet gold--length 9.7cm., width 1.5cm., thickness 6.0mm.
