WALT DISNEY STUDIOS
PLANE CRAZY, 1928
Minnie Mouse hands Mickey the lucky horseshoe, gouache on full celluloid applied to a watercolour production background--9 x 11 in.
NOTE: Plane Crazy was Walt Disney's first Mickey Mouse production even though Steamboat Willie was released first. It was esentially the birth of his historic icon. The celluloid image of Mickey and Minnie was produced from the original art by the Disney Studios at a later date, apparently for publicity or publication use. The production background is not only one of the earliest pieces of artwork from the studio but has the only known image of the plane.
