A PAIR OF VICTORIAN SILVER FIVE-LIGHT CANDELABRA
LONDON, 1849, MAKER'S MARK OF THE BARNARD BROS.

Each on tri-form pedestal base raised on three rocaille paw feet headed by scrolls with acanthus and rocaille joined by foliate swags, the panels between applied with a coat-of-arms, crest and motto, the Royal Arms enclosed by ribbons inscribed HOLLAND LINCOLNSHIRE and engraved with a presentation inscription above an elaborate foliate scroll and rocaille rim, surmounted by cast free-standing classical figures, the central stem realistally formed as a twisting grape vine, the five scrolling grape vine with branches issuing from a calyx of grape leaves, with baluster leaf-form sockets above grape vine drip pans, the removable openwork central standard rising to a calyx of grape leaves and supporting a removable wire-work dish with an applied grape vine rim, with an additional candle socket to replace the dish, fully marked--25 7/8in.
