The vase-shaped body raised on three matted scroll feet on square pads headed by vacant reeded oval cartouches surrounded by laurel swags, the lower body chased with a band of vertical palmettes, the mid rib with paneled flowerheads on a matted ground, the upper body fluted above a band of stylized foliage and with similar rim, the fluted acanthus spout terminating in an oval cartouche chase with a portrait bust of the Empress Maria Theresa enclosed by laurel swags, the angular wood handle with carved laurel swags, the chained domed cover fluted and with a band of beading, the urn shaped finial draped with openwork laurel swags and rising from a calyx of leaves, marked under base--15½in. (39.4cm.) high
