cover 1877 (20 Aug.) envelope "Per First opportunity, Registered" to Singapore, bearing 1863-71 8c. and 12c. tied by good strikes of D.27 and with a good strike of the previously unrecorded "REGISTERED AMOY" dated oval in red, the reverse showing a fine strike of the Hong Kong registered oval in red dated 24th August 1877, a little after the latest date recorded by Webb. The envelope has suffered a little ageing but is still with its original enclosures. A cover of the greatest importance, just over twenty D.27 covers have been recorded and the Amoy oval has, until now, evaded discovery despite years of research. Photo
