A VERY RARE EARLY MING BLUE AND WHITE SLIP-DECORATED DRAGON DISH

The exterior painted in greyish-blue tones with a pair of dramatic scaly five-clawed dragons in mutual pursuit amid cloud scrolls and flames, the interior with a central medallion of three ruyi-shaped clouds with a further two scaly dragons in the well picked out in slip and divided by lingzhi sprigs, below the rim painted with a classic scroll, the unglazed foot and base burnt orange in the firing (restored)--7 5/8in. (19.2cm.) diam.
