An interesting pattern book, the cover with label 'Livre d'Echantillons... de trouve chez Charles Loebwitz à Mulhouse' and handwritten dates including 1839, containing samples of printed cottons and a few samples of Kashmir wool shawls, the cottons in strong colours, the predominant colour red and the patterns mainly formalised floral; a few handwritten names and notes attached such as 'Schlumberger', 'Thierry Mieg 8.75 mauvais dessin...' and a few chef d'impression e.g. 'Com. 6', and 'J. Kenner', the inside page with handwritten dates 1837, 1838 et 1839 - 66pp, mainly 1830s, boards
