A Presentation Model Of the M.V. MITCHAM
The Burntisland Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., Burntisland, Scotland.
A well done builder's presentation model of a gas carrier. The hull of the model is built up in wood, with a maroon and black bottom and black topsides. Along the topsides the model is marked "MITCHAM Wandsworth Gas Co." In addition the hull has draft markings at the bow and stern as well as a plimsole mark amidships. The decks of the model are painted grey with some areas painted an ivory color and the planking drawn in India ink. The principal deck structures are built up of wood and include the bridge and forward cabin structure, and the aft cabin structures. The model is well detailed with anchors, anchor windlass, bollards, deck railings, ladders, ventilators, whistle, binnacle, running lights, masts, funnel (painted in Wandsworth & District Gas Co. colors), three boats on davits, brass propeller and other details. The fittings are modeled in either brass or German silver. The model is displayed on two tall silver pedestals, and displayed in a glass and cherry case with a maple interior and plinth.
44 x 18 x 21¾ in.(111.7 x 45.7 x 55.3 cm.) model in case.
